3rd Cross-SwafS Stakeholder Forum meeting – Early views on the ROSiE Knowledge hub
The 3rd Cross -SwafS Stakeholder Meeting for responsible Open Science was successfully held on February 3rd. Open Science experts and professionals currently participating in SwafS projects had the opportunity to interact and present their most recent activities. We are indebted to all for their participation and the exchange of interesting ideas.
ROSiE member Panagiotis Kavouras presented the structure of the ROSiE Knowledge Hub. The aim of the hub is to provide recommendations to open science platforms on how to apply open science and analyze if the data is FAIR enough in different fields of science. With the tool it will be possible to funnel all the knowledge that will be created by the ROSiE project to the end users, specifically researchers, professional scientists, members of the citizen science and open science communities, and to policymakers as well.
After the presentation, a discussion followed on various aspects of the ROSiE Knowledge Hub. Forum participants raised the issue of the sustainability of the platform after the ROSiE project ends in relation to funding for the maintenance of the hub, as well as the relevance of the content. Other issues raised included the level of user contribution to the platform; the potential to merge the hub with other platforms, specifically APIs; security concerns; allowing citizen science moderatos; and ethical concerns on open forums.
